Day-wise itinerary: 5 days in Bangkok and Pattaya

Day 1 — Arrival in Bangkok: Land at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang airport, complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) formalities, and transfer to your hotel. Evening at leisure — explore a night market or take a Chao Phraya river dinner cruise.

Day 2 — Bangkok city tour: Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), shop at MBK or Pratunam, and experience Khao San Road or Asiatique in the evening.

Day 3 — Bangkok to Pattaya: Transfer to Pattaya (around 2 hours by road). Afternoon at Coral Island (Koh Larn) for beaches and water sports. Evening: Walking Street and the Alcazar cabaret show (optional).

Day 4 — Pattaya sightseeing: Visit the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, or enjoy a relaxed day at the beach. Return to Bangkok by evening.

Day 5 — Departure: Last-minute shopping at a Bangkok mall or market, then transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Indicative budget for the trip

Costs vary by season, hotel category and flight deals. The figures below are indicative, commonly quoted ranges — not fixed prices:

  • Package (4 nights hotel + transfers + sightseeing, twin sharing): ₹35,000–₹45,000 per person
  • Flights (India–Bangkok return): ₹12,000–₹20,000 per person
  • Food: ₹800–₹1,500 per person per day
  • Shopping and extras: ₹5,000–₹10,000
  • Total: roughly ₹45,000–₹65,000 per person

Prices are generally higher around Diwali, New Year and the summer holidays — travelling in the shoulder season can save a significant amount.

Hotels and flights: budget tips

  • Book flights 45–60 days in advance; midweek departures are often cheaper.
  • Choose hotels near BTS/MRT stations in Bangkok and near Beach Road in Pattaya to save on transport.
  • Travelling with friends or as a couple on twin sharing cuts hotel costs substantially.
  • For first-time travellers, a bundled package (transfers, tours and guidance included) is usually easier than booking everything separately.
  • Keep breakfast included in your hotel plan — it typically saves ₹300–₹500 per day.

Visa and entry rules for Indians

Indian ordinary passport holders currently get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism and short stays (reduced from 60 days, effective 15 September 2026). You must:

  • hold a passport valid for at least 6 months;
  • carry a confirmed return or onward ticket;
  • complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 72 hours before arrival (mandatory since 1 May 2025);
  • be ready to show proof of sufficient funds if asked.

Entry rules can change — reconfirm the current position before you travel. The final decision on entry always rests with Thai immigration officers.

Best time, packing and money

  • Best time: November to February offers the most pleasant weather; March to May is hot, and June to October brings rain.
  • Packing: light cotton clothes, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and a light jacket (air-conditioning is strong indoors).
  • Money: the currency is the Thai Baht (THB). Carry a mix of cash and an international travel/forex card; exchange a small amount before departure for immediate expenses.
