Philippines Visa for Indians: 14-Day and 30-Day Visa-Free Rules Guide
Share this article:WhatsApp

The Philippines has become a much easier destination for Indian tourists since June 2025. From 8 June 2025, Indian nationals can enter the Philippines without a visa for 14 days for tourism, and Indian nationals who hold a valid visa or residence permit from the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada, a Schengen country, Singapore or the United Kingdom (the AJACSSUK group) can enter visa-free for 30 days. These privileges were announced by the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through Foreign Service Circulars 2025-019 and 2025-020, and implemented by the Bureau of Immigration. The catch, and it is an important one, is that both stays are non-extendible and non-convertible. You cannot extend the 14-day stay, and you cannot convert it into another visa category inside the Philippines. So the Philippines is a good choice for a short, well-planned holiday, but not a route for a longer stay, work or study. This guide explains who gets 14 days, who gets 30 days, and what documents you must carry.

The Two Visa-Free Options for Indians

Option Who Qualifies Maximum Stay Extendible? Convertible?
14-day visa-free entry All Indian nationals travelling for tourism 14 days No No
30-day visa-free entry Indian nationals holding a valid, current AJACSSUK visa or residence permit 30 days No No

AJACSSUK means: America, Japan, Australia, Canada, Schengen Area, Singapore, United Kingdom. For the 30-day option, the third-country visa or residence permit must be valid and current at the time of entry. Both options are available at any Philippine port of entry, including international airports and seaports for passenger or cruise vessels. Entry is subject to having no derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration.

Documents You Must Carry

For the 14-day visa-free entry, you must present:

  • Passport valid for at least six months beyond your contemplated stay
  • Confirmed hotel accommodation or booking
  • Proof of financial capacity
  • Return or onward ticket to the next country of destination

For the 30-day AJACSSUK option, the DFA guidance highlights the passport (valid for at least six months beyond the stay) and the return or onward ticket, plus the valid third-country visa or residence permit. In practice, carry the hotel booking and proof of funds for this option too, so that you are ready for any question at the counter. Keep every document verifiable: a hotel booking that cannot be checked, a missing return ticket, or a passport close to expiry can all cause refusal. Also note that transit passengers are not covered by this visa-free entry; transiting travellers need a transit visa where applicable.

What Visa-Free Entry Does NOT Allow

Visa-free entry to the Philippines is strictly for tourism. It does not allow employment, business activity beyond tourism, study or a long-term stay. It cannot be extended, and it cannot be converted into a work visa, student visa or any other admission status inside the country. Anyone travelling for work, study, business beyond tourism, or a stay longer than the permitted period must apply for the appropriate visa at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate before travel. Indian travellers can also check the Philippine e-Visa route through evisa.gov.ph, but note that e-Visas are also non-extendible and non-convertible to a long-term visa. Do not trust any agent who promises to “extend” or “convert” a 14-day visa-free stay after arrival; the DFA has explicitly ruled that out.

Step-by-Step: Plan a Philippines Holiday in Order

  1. Decide which option fits you: 14 days for most tourists, or 30 days if you hold a valid AJACSSUK visa or residence permit.
  2. Keep your total trip, including travel days, inside the permitted stay. Do not plan a 15-day trip on a 14-day entry.
  3. Book your return or onward ticket and a verifiable hotel before you fly.
  4. Check that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your stay.
  5. Carry proof of funds and your full itinerary.
  6. At immigration, state tourism as your purpose honestly, and keep your documents ready.
  7. Leave before your permitted stay ends. Overstaying can lead to fines, detention and future entry problems.

Philippines or Another Southeast Asian Trip? A Quick Comparison

If your holiday is 14 days or shorter, the Philippines visa-free option is as simple as it gets: no application, no fee, just documents at entry. If you need up to 30 days, Malaysia’s visa-free facility for Indians (until 31 December 2026) may fit better, with its MDAC form to complete before arrival. If you need up to 90 days, Vietnam’s e-visa is the structured online route, with a government fee of USD 25 (single entry) or USD 50 (multiple entry). Each route has its own limits, so choose by trip length and purpose, not by what an agent promises.
